Pro Tips on Finding Your Perfect Bridal Beauty Look

As wedding planners, we often get asked about the dos and don’ts of wedding day makeup. Luckily, we have an expert who can provide the perfect advice. Erion Bridal is one of our go-to makeup artists and she is sharing her pro tips for finding your perfect bridal beauty look.

Your wedding day will be one of the most cherished moments of your life. It will also most likely be the biggest party you ever throw and the most documented day of your life. Unless you’re Beyonce, of course.

That sounds kind of amazing but also a teeny bit stressful, right?

Well, if you’re in the hands of an amazing planner like Rebecca, the path to your wedding day will be much smoother, but you still might be worried about certain aspects of your wedding. That’s where I come in.

My name is Nika Ambrozic and I’m the owner of Erion Bridal. I’m a makeup artist and hairstylist in Barcelona. A lot of my destination wedding clients are really confused about the beauty part of their wedding journey.

Most people have never had their makeup done professionally and even though we “should” get our hair trimmed every 4-6 weeks and we’re used to people changing our look, that’s a completely different story than someone braiding flowers into your hair.

Today I’ll show you how to find your perfect bridal beauty look.

Can’t I just leave it up to the professional?

It’s true that an experienced artist will know how to help you find the look that suits your features best but this is your wedding and the ultimate goal is that you feel pretty. I find that working together with your artist will get the best results.

Where do I even start?

So the first question I ask my clients is: “When do you feel the most beautiful?” Think about what you’d do if you had a date night or an anniversary coming up. Would you wear your hair up or down? Would you go for a strong liner or a colorful lipstick? What makes you feel amazing?

The follow-up question is, what do you do on a daily basis? Are you a “slap on some moisturizer and get out the door” kind of person or do you take the extra minutes in the morning to perfect your cat eye? In other words, what is your bare minimum?

Chances are, your bridal beauty look will be somewhere in between these two. You want a bit more makeup than on a regular day, but something that still makes you feel like yourself. Once you find out what that is, you can start looking for inspiration pictures. These are super helpful for your beauty trial.

Pro tip: Look for photos on Pinterest, it’s an amazing tool. I send my clients to my Pinterest inspiration page: there are lots of looks to choose from there if you need some help.

Do I really need photos?

We need these images to communicate better. For example, as an artist, I’ve seen so many interpretations of “a natural makeup look”, from the freshly washed face with a hint of mascara, to a heavily contoured red carpet Kim Kardashian. Words just fall short.

The photos that you bring can be of yourself or of other people. Look for makeup and hairstyles that you absolutely love.

Pro tip: If you’ve ever had your makeup/hair done and you hated it, bring a photo of that too! We artists like to know what to avoid.

Great, is that it?

Almost! The last step is to test out your beauty look. I strongly recommend doing a trial. You’ll get to test the look, see if you love it and test how it holds up. You might want to adapt it for the wedding day: maybe you’ll want your bun tighter to keep you cooler in the high temperature, maybe you want your eyeshadow to be darker because the wedding is in the late afternoon and the lighting will be softer…

Besides, the last thing you want on your wedding day is to be picking a blush color. You’re there to enjoy the day and have a great time with your loved ones.

Pro tip: Do your trial on the day you have your dress fitting and see the whole thing come together.

I hope this has been helpful! Congratulations on your wedding and good luck!
