J&D Clos la Plana Wedding: Interview with our Bride

With a love for travelling together, Jessica and Darren wanted to get married somewhere that has a special place in both of their hearts. Coming from Liverpool, they also wanted the journey to the wedding to be as easy and stress-free as possible for their friends and family. Sitges is a place they have spent and enjoyed time as a couple, and is only 40 minutes from Barcelona, and so was the only option for them! Their Clos La Plana Wedding was perfect!

 Jessica and Darren’s dream day involved a sunny ceremony. Followed by a relaxed celebration with a laid back atmosphere where their guests could mingle and enjoy each others company with no pressures on formalities. The beautiful Clos la Plana was the ideal venue for this kind of wedding and it was so special to be part of such a wonderful day filled with such wonderful people. 

Here, our lovely bride Jessica tells us all about her perfect day and how it was to plan her Clos la Plana wedding with Barcelona Brides.  

Describe your Clos la Plana wedding day in 3 words

Best. Day. Ever

What was your favourite memory from your Clos la Plana wedding?

There are too many to choose just one, it was better than we ever imagined! From getting ready with my girls in the stunning rooms of Clos La Plana, walking down the aisle, the speeches, the party, the food, everything!

Why did you choose Barcelona as your wedding destination?

My family has always loved Spain and I have amazing memories of family holidays but Sitges was recommended to me and a friend when we were visiting Barcelona years ago and I fell in love with it! We went back for Darren’s 30^th and it just became our special place. I also love that Barcelona is so easy to get to from Liverpool, so we didn’t feel like we were asking too much from our family and friends.

What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?

My dress was from a beautiful shop in Liverpool around the corner from my home,Natalie Ann Brides. It was the first wedding dress I tried on and I went on to try different dresses in different shops, but nothing compared! I loved that it had traditional aspects but was lined with darker ivory to make it a little different. I will always cherish the memories of trying on dresses and going for fittings with my Mum.

If you did it all again what might you change?

We honestly can’t think of anything we would do differently! I felt that the day was even more special after having to postpone a couple of times due to the pandemic and can’t thank Rebecca and the team enough. Everything about the day was incredible. I’m so glad we opted for a casual menu rather than a three-course sit-down meal and would highly recommend this to other couples.

 

Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?

The flowers were beautiful! I only explained briefly to Rebecca what I wanted, and she knew exactly what I meant. They were so on-trend and the petal basket was a gorgeous touch for our flower girl.

What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?

Book your wedding with Barcelona Brides! I know it’s easier said than done but try not to stress too much, Rebecca and the team have everything under control. Take a few moments to step back, breathe and take everything in during the day. Oh, and Brides, make sure you eat!! I was too busy chatting and dancing and missed some of the gorgeous food.

What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?

We didn’t want too much pressure to be on traditions, but we had speeches, a first dance, and a father-daughter dance which were all amazing. My sister wore my engagement ring during the ceremony which was lovely. My girls got me something old (photographs) something new (makeup brushes) something borrowed (a hip flask!) and something blue (a garter). My Dad also got me something blue, an Everton Football Club badge! One beautiful surprise was a family tree that my Mum had planned secretly with Rebecca. It included photos of our grandparents and parents on their wedding days.
