Clos La Plana Spring Wedding: Interview with the Bride
The perfect couple had to have the perfect Barcelona wedding, and that’s what they got! Their pool side paella welcome party on the first day was only the beginning. In the wedding week Cher and Philip’s guests got to enjoy everything from boat trips, Barcelona city tours, even a golf day for the boys. It’s such a pleasure and inspiration to get to feature this wedding on our blog. With stunning pictures of their Barcelona wedding by Damian with first look and the most romantic snaps from the special day.
And it’s an honour to receive the below review from this Barcelona wedding couple:
Rebecca, Claudia, and Maily were all apart of our wedding planning process leading up to our wedding. They did such an amazing job and really gave us a stress-free wedding day. They were available for virtual meetings regularly throughout the year while in the planning process. They were always fast to respond and gave us wonderful recommendations for all of our vendors since we were not familiar with the area. Our wedding was the best week of our lives and we are so thankful for Barcelona Brides for making our destination wedding easy to plan and stress-free!! We could not have imagined a better week in Spain! We cannot thank them enough!

Describe your Barcelona wedding in just three words.
Perfect, relaxed, fun!

What was your favourite memory or moment from the day?
I think the 2 moments that stood out to us the most were the father of the bride’s speech and dancing with everyone while the band played during the reception.
My dad has always been a more quiet and reserved personality, and hearing him give such a thoughtful and loving speech brought tears to almost everyone in the room!
Then, we absolutely loved the energy of the band! We had never met them in person before our wedding day, so we were a little nervous, because the band was so important to Philip. But they absolutely blew everyone away! Everyone was dancing for hours while they played and they had one of the most fun playlists I’ve ever heard at a wedding!

What inspired you to choose Barcelona and your venue for your wedding?
Traveling has always been a love of mine and Barcelona is my favorite city I have ever traveled to. The beauty and unique culture of Spain cannot be found anywhere else and I wanted to share my love for the city and the country by planning a trip there with all of my closest friends and family. Also, Europe was a good half-way point between the US and Thailand, since we had guests coming from both places!

Tell us about your wedding dress what did you love most, and how did you find the one?
I loved my wedding dress because I felt like it fit the venue very well. I wanted something that was timeless, yet unique. I loved that it had texture with most of the dress being a tulle fabric, which I had never really seen before. It was actually the very first dress that I saw online that I liked before going into the store to try dresses on. I went in trying to keep an open mind, but couldn’t stop thinking about that dress.

If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?
Honestly, we would love to re-live our wedding day at least 10 more times the exact same way because everything was perfect! Neither of us felt nervous throughout the day because we felt so comfortable with our small wedding party and we had already spent a lot of time with all of our guests throughout the week, so there was no pressure.
One minor thing I wish I would’ve added after looking back at our wedding pictures. I decided to not get my bridesmaids bouquets to walk down the aisle with. And although it didn’t make a huge difference since our venue provided such a stunning background, I think it would’ve been even more beautiful if we had more flowers for our pictures.

Let’s talk flowers, what did you love most about your wedding blooms?
My wedding bouquet turned out absolutely gorgeous!! It was exactly what I wanted. We also decided sort of last minute that we wanted to do our own center pieces for the reception/dinner instead of going with the ones included by the wedding venue, and I think that added a really nice personal touch!

What advice would you give to other couples planning a destination wedding in Barcelona?
Use Barcelona Brides as your wedding planner and they will make everything absolutely perfect! I think having a good full wedding planner is one of the best decisions we ever made. Most of our stress before the wedding came from being unsure if the vendors we chose would understand our vision since we did not meet any of them in person prior to the wedding day. But the suggestions that Rebecca, Claudia, and Maily gave us were all so wonderful. I think a piece of advice we would share is to not to be worried about not getting to be hands-on and seeing things in person during the planning process, as long as you have a good wedding planner!

Did you include any cultural traditions or personal touches in your celebration?
With many of my family flying to Barcelona from Thailand, we wanted to incorporate a Thai wedding ceremony called “The Conch Ceremony” where elder family members pour water over the hands of the newly weds out of a conch shell while stating a blessing for the couple. I am so glad that we got to incorporate this tradition into our wedding day!

Is there a song that instantly takes you back to the day? Why does it hold such meaning for you?
- Real Love Baby by Father John Misty
- This was the song we walked out of our ceremony to! We love this song and it was just a perfect representation of the rest of the evening.
