La Baronia Spring Wedding: Interview with Gloria & Mike
Gloria and Mike were a very very special couple, one of the first weddings of the 2026 season and we could not have asked for a sweeter, more fun couple to get the season started. At stunning La Baronia and blessed with photos by Juanjo Vega (who is always a delight to work with). It was hard to pick our favourite shots. Thank you guys for taking the time to tell us all about your la Baronia wedding!

Describe your wedding day in Barcelona in just 3 words
Perfect, magical, joyous

What was your favorite memory from the day?
It’s so hard to pick just 1! A few of our favorites were our first look, reciting our vows, seeing the ceremony space fully decorated for the first time together, and of course, the party!!!

What inspired you to choose Barcelona and your venue for the wedding
We had always talked about taking a trip to Barcelona, and since we knew we for sure wanted to do a destination wedding, it just seemed like a natural choice. We saw pictures of La Baronia and thought, “Wouldn’t having our wedding at a place like that be incredible? Let’s start looking at Barcelona!” Once we found Rebecca and Barcelona Brides, they shared with us that they work at La Baronia all the time and that having our wedding there was a possibility. Going from the idea of a wedding at a place like La Baronia to actually making that a reality was beyond our wildest dreams!

Tell us about your wedding dress – what did you love the most, and how did you find the one?
I LOVED my wedding dress. I wore the Sarah Seven Spencer dress and overskirt from the BRIDE collection…it was everything I was looking for and more. When I tried on my dress for the first time along with the overskirt, it blew me away. I could see myself walking down the aisle (obviously wearing the dress) at La Baronia to marry my person – that’s when I knew it was the one.
I genuinely loved everything about my wedding dress but a few things that stand out are that it gave me the best of both worlds: a dramatic gown-like feel and a curve hugging dress – easy and comfortable to dance all night in. I LOVED the corset bodice and the creamy ivory shade.

If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?
Our day was more perfect than we could have ever hoped for, we wouldn’t change a single thing about it!

Let’s talk flowers – what did you love most about your wedding blooms?
Our flowers came out more beautiful than we could have ever hoped for! Our florist Itzi is truly an artist and brought our vision to life! The vibrant sunset colors we wanted were on full display and played off of the natural rustic beauty of La Baronia amazingly. We loved how all of our florals, from the large ceremony pieces to the smaller pieces on our dinner tables, made the whole occasion feel bright, dreamy, and matched all of our accent pieces flawlessly.

What advice would you give to other couples planning a destination wedding in Barcelona?
Go after your dream wedding! There are going to be situations where you may have to pivot, adapt, or find a different option for something you may have felt set on, but don’t ever forget what you’re actually doing. If you are marrying the one, everything else will fall into place. Explore your options but come into the experience with an open mind, because there are so many beautiful venues and you really can’t go wrong. Also prepare for communication to be a bit more relaxed based on response times from some vendors.
Did you include any cultural traditional or personal touches in your celebration?
We included Mariachi Barcelona as an homage to the bride’s Mexican culture. They played during the ceremony and also during cocktail hour, and they were such a hit with all of our guests!
We also included certain Mexican traditions, such as the lasso during our ceremony along with La Vibora de la Mar and El Baile del Billete during our reception. We are so happy we added them, it made our wedding feel that much more special!

Is there a song that instantly takes you back to the day? Why does it hold so much meaning for you?
That How Strong My Love Is by Otis Redding, it was our first dance song!
What was the most emotional moment from your day?
Definitely hearing our vows spoken to each other in front of our guests.

What was your favorite part about working with your wedding planner? How did having support on the ground in Barcelona help bring your vision to life?
Rebecca, Amber, and the BB team constantly met us where we were at, despite us changing our plans and vision for our wedding a few different times throughout the process. They were communicative, responsive, and employed a great balance of providing us with information, while also understanding our vision and preferences to come up with the options that were just right for us.

What surprised you most about planning a destination wedding in Spain?
What surprised us most was simply how stress free and smooth everything was on our wedding day. Rebecca and the team were truly so well prepared to make sure that there was nothing for us to focus on other than enjoying our big day.

If you could relive one moment from our wedding day, what would it be?
ALL OF IT! It’s literally impossible for us to just pick one.

How did your guests react to celebrating in Barcelona?
We got so much incredible feedback from our guests! Many of them would have probably never gone to Barcelona in their lives if it weren’t for this wedding, but every single one of them got to experience this amazing city and do plenty of other activities outside of things tied to our wedding celebration.
Looking back now, what was the best investment made on your wedding day?
Easily hiring the Barcelona Brides team! Every single vendor they set us up with played such an important role in executing our dream wedding, from our photographer Juanjo, our florist Itzi, Mariachi Barcelona, and everyone else they introduced us to.

What was your favorite photograph from the wedding and the story behind it?
It is so hard to pick just one, but this one feels like the most us! No poses, no worries about how the lighting is, just pure fun, vibes, and love.

How would you describe your wedding style?
We would describe our wedding as a garden formal Spanish fiesta. We wanted to rely heavily on our venue to provide the rustic Spanish charm, while bringing in pops of bright color and some modern touches.
What made your wedding in Barcelona unforgettable?
Everything was so amazing, but when you boil it all down, the most unforgettable thing was us each getting to marry the love of our life.
It was such a joy and thank you so much for your review.
Rebecca, Amber and Sole with Barcelona Brides truly made our dream wedding come true. We had talked to numerous other planners before meeting Rebecca, and none of them felt right. With Rebecca, we immediately felt comfortable, listened to, and we also loved that they used the Aisleplanner software to make the planning process as easy and efficient as possible. We were incredibly nervous planning a destination wedding in Spain all the way from California, but Rebecca set our minds at ease so many times. They guided us through everything, from coordinating with vendors for the major stuff (DJ, catering, venue, etc.) to the smallest details imaginable. They were always responsive despite a significant time difference, and they were always kind and ready to do everything they could to execute our vision. We simply cannot say enough great things about Rebecca and her entire team. If you are considering doing your destination wedding in Spain, we cannot recommend them enough!
