K&J’s Almiral de la Font Autumn Wedding

The food, the music, the venue, the decor everything about this Autumn wedding was wow! And it was all their vision ♥️ We loved hearing from our bride Katie all about her wedding day at Almiral de la Font with Yolanda of Best Day EverPhotography by Paco and Aga. Planning Barcelona Brides.

Describe your Barcelona Autumn wedding day in 3 words!
Cozy, intimate, magical
invitation wedding

Why did you choose Barcelona as your Autumn wedding destination?
Although I am from the US, my husband (!) is from the Barcelona area and our life is here for the moment. It worked out perfectly because our US-based family and friends were over the moon to make the trip out and celebrate with us. We loved showing them around our favorite spots before and after the wedding day and Barcelona Brides even helped us organize a paella class for everyone which was a big hit!

If you did it all again what might you change?
I can’t think of a thing ~ everything was truly perfect and we love to reminisce on each and every detail and memory from the day.

What was your favorite memory from your Barcelona wedding?
Every moment of the day was so special in it’s own way. The memory that comes first to mind is right after the ceremony, Jordi and I ran straight for the house where we were able to spend a few minutes alone to laugh and reflect on the most important moment of the day before reuniting and celebrating with our guests. It was such a special moment that I will always remember and hold dear.

What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?
Since I’m only able to visit home every so often, my mom and I decided to look at wedding dresses while I was in California over summer. I found my dress at the first store I went to. It was in the midst of Covid, so it wasn’t an ideal atmosphere for trying on wedding dresses (only one guest allowed, masked the whole time, no sparkling wine). In the end my dress had almost everything I was looking for, it was in my budget, and honestly I didn’t want to spend the time looking elsewhere – ha! I loved how simple it was, but that it had some delicate floral embroidery on the sleeves and train.

Tell us about the blooms. What was your favorite thing about your wedding flowers?
Yolanda of Best Day Ever has a true gift with florals, and she is so lovely to work with. She was really great about sticking to our budget and she did such a fabulous job. Everything was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined or hoped for ~ true magic!

What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?
We incorporated some small details from both of our cultures – my favorite has to be the Catalan “porron” bottles we served wine and cider in after dinner. We also had typical US s’mores for guests to roast themselves which we’re told was a highlight.

What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?
Embrace and enjoy the beautiful process (which can sometimes come with a bit of chaos!). If Barcelona is a destination wedding for you and/or your guests, have fun with it and find ways to experience local culture and hidden gems. Rebecca and her team know the city and its surroundings like the back of their hands, and they always have suggestions to offer to any of your queries!
