C&E La Baronia Wedding: Interview with the couple

Carena and Eric were a dream to work with, we loved their style and vibe with soft autumnal tones, and details like the flags they gifted their guests (there were sooo many different nationalities present at this wedding). We’re sure you’ll agree that M2 Visual Studios captured the day in the most stunning way. Thank you so much for this great interview Carena and Eric!

Describe your Barcelona wedding day in 3 words!

Breathtaking, Romantic, Fun.

What was your favourite memory from your Barcelona wedding?

How much people were laughing, dancing, and singing! It’s not very often you get to be with all your loved ones and get to relax and enjoy.

Why did you choose Barcelona and your venue for your wedding?

We’ve been to so many weddings in Toronto and it felt like a good opportunity to do something different and travel with everyone post pandemic.  We specifically chose Barcelona because it’s a city we’ve been to many times before and we enjoy Spanish culture.  The venue, La Baronía, was one of the most beautiful venues we ever seen! There aren’t any venues like that at home in Toronto and it felt like our own private paradise.

What did you love most about your wedding dress? How and where did you find it?

It was light, had a beautiful train and I felt like the romantic style really matched with the venue. I had already purchased a wedding dress when I had found this one by accident browsing a wedding boutique website. It was about 4 months before the wedding and i was lucky enough to get a dress off the rack!

If you did it all again what might you change?

Don’t sweat the small details- it’s not worth the stress and it gives you more time to hang out with everyone who is there for you!

Tell us about the blooms. What was your favourite thing about your wedding flowers?

I’m not particularly fussy about flowers but I do appreciate when there is balance of colour and texture. Our vendor Go Floral created the most stunning displays and we could not be happier.

What is your advice for other couples getting married in Barcelona?

Give yourself at least a year of planning and work with a planner. They have good relationships with vendors  and it will save you time on the research. It also doesn’t hurt to brush up on your Spanish either!

What cultural aspects did you include in your big day?

My family (bride) is from Jamaica. It’s common in the Toronto- Caribbean community to dance with the flag of your heritage. Since we were celebrating an inter-cultural wedding we thought it would be great to give everyone their own dancing flags that represents them. Within our group of 80 guests we had ~30 unique nationalities/ cultural heritages to celebrate.

What song brings you back to the day and why?

There are a few!

September – Earth Wind & Fire.  This is a great party and dance song and we really wanted people to “remember the 19th day of September” 🙂

Famalay- Bunji Garlin, Machel Montano & Skinny Fabulous.  This is an upbeat soca song about everyone being family and coming together regardless of your cultural background to dance and celebrate with each other. This captures the sentiment of the love our families and friends share with us and each other.

Rockaway- Beres Hammond:  This is a song about nostalgia and reminiscing on days past and coming together to celebrate again.  After, spending so many months apart during the pandemic, this was the vibe we felt with being with all of our loved ones together again after 2 years.
