An Indian Wedding Barcelona Style

Barcelona is hugely popular for destination weddings and couples from all different regions and religious backgrounds choose it every year for their special day. We have couples this year from India, Korea, China, Ireland, USA and Lebanon, just to mention a few! All of them are able to celebrate their traditions and their love, their way, and at the same time enjoying the authentic culture, history and romance of this city. We’re are able to offer everything from the Jewish Chuppah and Ketubah, to the Indian Mehndi, the traditional Chinese pre wedding tea ceremony and absolutely anything else our couples ask us for. But today we’re talking about Indian Weddings, Barcelona style.

Barcelona provides an ideal location for Indian weddings, which are renowned for being big. Barcelona and the surrounding areas offer wedding venues big enough to cater to big groups.

These venues often reflect the Indian tradition of lively and joyful wedding colours. Just look at a few of the options and you’ll see what I mean. Casa Batlló (below) is an unbelievably characteristic location, smack bang in the centre of Barcelona full of colour, culture and art, and with capacity for up to 300 guests. It even has some outdoor space and facilities for guests with limited mobility.

The Sant Pau Recinte Moderniste is another big and beautiful location. Europe’s largest Art Nouveau complex (Below, Photo credit: Cesc Giralt) provides destination wedding guests with a once in a lifetime experience full of surprises.

Like Gaudi, the architect Domènech i Montaner is an important part of the architectural heritage of Barcelona. He was the creator of the beautiful lamp posts you can see on Paseo de Gracia (perfect for your engagement shoot snaps) and many other Barcelona masterpieces.

But if it’s the ancient of Barcelona which you’d most love for your Indian wedding, then how about the Palau Requesens? With capacity for up to 350 guests and located in the heart of Gothic Quarter. Not only that but the Palau Requesens is built on the oldest Roman wall in Barcelona, has a tower and a gorgeous little fountain in the upstairs area. Your guests will even be treated to a fire show, guided tour of the Gothic Quarter and a belly dance show. Prices start at 70 EUR per person with no venue rental fee which makes this Indian Wedding Package option even more appealing.

So now you know that Barcelona has everything to offer in terms of unique venues and locations. So what about the offer details? Many of our Indian couples ask us for Henna artists and Indian cuisine and Barcelona has it all.

We spoke to top Barcelona henna artist Pat to get the low down on how to plan for your henna services in Barcelona. Pat, how did you end up becoming a Barcelona based Henna Artist and what do you most love about working with henna and Indian weddings in Barcelona?

I’m a yoga teacher and student, so I travel to India once a year to practice with my teacher there. The first time I went and had some henna applied to my skin, I become obsessed with this technique. I started investigating and practicing like crazy… some time after, people just started asking me to apply henna on them. So that’s how it all started… I’m always between India and Barcelona, so I work both there and here. I love working with henna at Indian weddings. It’s like alchemy, I start making the paste at home, and it is one of my most powerful meditations!
